What we keep, and why.

This page says what the site records about you, where it lives, who sees it, how long it stays, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read, not to cover anyone.

No cookies for visitors

The site sets no cookie for a reader. The only cookie it ever sets is the sign-in of the people who edit it.

How you arrived

Your browser's own storage keeps how you found the site: any campaign tags in the address you came by, the site that referred you, and the first page you landed on. That stays in your browser, is sent to us only when you submit a form or click the join link, and goes when you clear the site's data.

What we count

Page views are counted on our own server, per day and per page. There is no third-party analytics and no advertising network. A daily estimate of distinct visitors is made from a hash of the IP address and the browser's identifier with a secret that changes every day and is never stored; the hash lives in memory for that day only, and neither the address nor the hash is written anywhere. The referring site's hostname and any campaign tag are counted in aggregate per day. The "Join on Skool" link passes through our own address first, which counts the click with the page it was on and the stored source, then forwards you to Skool with the referral code; nothing that identifies you is kept. These daily totals are kept for two years. We keep no server access logs.

If you apply

Your name, your email address and your answers are stored in our database so the person who runs admissions can read them and write back. You get a confirmation by email and, after the call, the decision; those emails come from the site's own mailer, delivered through Resend. The call is booked on Cal.com under its own terms. An application is kept until you ask us to remove it or the person who runs admissions clears it; sending the form twice within a day updates the first copy rather than making a second.

If you sign up for the course

Your email address goes into our list with a note of where you signed up. The seven course emails and, unless you apply, up to three notes after it come from the site's own mailer through Resend. Every one of them carries an unsubscribe link, and one click stops them all; an unsubscribed address stays on record only so that we never email it again. We do not send anything else, and we do not sell or share the list.

Substack and Skool

The Substack form sends your address to Substack, under Substack's own policy; we do not see it. Joining through the link puts you on Skool, under Skool's policy; the disclosure explains the referral.

Who sees it, and where it lives

The person who runs admissions and the Academy's editors. The database is MongoDB Atlas, the server is a DigitalOcean droplet, email delivery is Resend, booking is Cal.com, each on the operator's own account and each bound by its own terms. Nightly copies of the database are kept for thirty days on the server and, once set up, in an encrypted store off it. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.

Your rights

Write to admissions@joinmensacademy.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you; you will have an answer within a week. To stop the emails, use the link in any of them.
